The Tower Celebrates it’s 20th Anniversary
Bonjour de Lac Martin, la Louisiane.
This year marks the 20th year since the tower was completed and I began a Tower Life!
These 20 years flew by I guess because of the amazing number of special events ,candlelight dinners, festive birthdays parties for myself and friends, 2 special weddings of dear friends, the passage of 5 hurricanes, a few tropical storms, and maybe most importantly countless hours spent just relaxing, nourished by the complex beauty of the surrounding architectural , decorative and landscape environment.
Our recent lockdown was a true “nest test” for my life in the Tower. It certainly passed the test providing me with all I needed to keep me physically comfortable, visually entertained and intellectually stimulated.
The exterior and interior architecture, the interior furnishings, art and decorations are thankfully anything but minimalist.
I wonder how people with “less is more” decors made it through 2 or 3 months of home confinement in environments lacking color, and with few objects of intellectual interest or visual beauty to nurture them day after day????
In case you would like to build an 18th century style tower of your very own or just do a remodeling or addition of 18th century style to your current home, at Au Vieux Paris Antiques, you can find a wide selection of building materials and furnishings just like those I used to create my Tower.
• Architectural items include a wide variety of fireplace mantles, many species of stone, terra cotta and parquet flooring, interior and exterior doors, boiserie, terra cotta roof tiles as well as items of wrought and cast iron.
• Interior furnishings and decorations run the full spectrum: case pieces, seat furniture, chandeliers, sconces, mirrors, tables, fine art…!
• Garden vases and ornaments include, olive jars, vase Anduse, “pot au fue”, fountains…!
I trust the attached photos will entertain and inspire you to begin creative projects or to enhance your own “personal nest” to reward you with “Bon Gout” living for at least the next 20 years!
Merci Cordialement

A new pedestrian walk happened in 2016.
More of the new walk lined with Vase Anduse.
The Bridge over the moat.
The entrance level is the dining room.
Second floor is the master bedroom.
Third floor is the salon.
Another view of the salon.
Fourth floor covered terrace.
The roof top terrace.
During “lockdown”, the salon became my very comfortable home office.
Solitaire lockdown suppers were a pleasure.
The view down from the salon balcony.
After 20 years, it was time to re-paint the outside for its entire height of 66 ft.
The AC cover ups were repainted a darker green.
Lake Martin sunsets are a major treat.
